TAXWORKS PRIVACY NOTICE

At TaxWorks, our most important relationship is with you, our customer. As part of this relationship, we feel a great responsibility in protecting your privacy and the privacy of your clients. We want you to feel secure when using our software. This privacy notice describes TaxWorks’ policies regarding information collection, disclosure and protection and applies to users of TaxWorks software.

INFORMATION PROTECTED
While providing tax preparation software, two important areas require information protection: 1) the information you provide to us as our customer, and 2) the personal information of the individuals and businesses for which you provide tax preparation services. We work to protect this information from unauthorized release or access by using industry-recognized security standards (i.e. firewalls, encryption, secure transmission protocols, etc.).

INFORMATION COLLECTED
Our Customers: We collect your information from a new or renewal order form when you purchase our software. We use this information only to provide services concerning your account. Access is restricted to only those employees requiring information regarding your account.

Clients: We do not collect information from you about your clients, except in the course of providing service to you, such as customer support or electronic filing. This data collection by TaxWorks is initiated by you when you send files containing your clients’ information. We store this information only for the purpose of providing services to you. Your clients’ information is transmitted to us encrypted via secure transmission protocols.

DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION
As one of the services we provide, we, as an authorized e-file provider, transmit your customer information to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), State Governments, and/or Lending Institutions. Transmissions to these agencies are done through secure transmission protocols. As required by law, we may also disclose, in limited circumstances, personal information to assist regulatory or law enforcement requests or if compelled by court process. We do not use or disclose this information other than in connection with providing these services to you on behalf of your clients or as required by law.

As a service to you, we work with a single third party for the sole purpose of providing a catalog of tax-related products (i.e. envelopes, folders, cards, books). Only your firm name and address are used for this purpose. No information regarding you or your clients is shared with other third parties, except as noted in the previous paragraph.
